When we said we would have a number of water activities on show we definitely weren’t messing around! For your viewing and exploration pleasure we will have the impressive L.E. Niamh naval ship on site.
L.E. Niamh was built in Appledore Shipyard in the UK for the Naval Service. She is an improved version of her sister ship, L.E. Roisin. She is built to the successful Róisín design that optimizes her patrol performance in Irish waters (which are among the roughest in the world), year round. For that reason a greater length overall (78.8m) was chosen, giving her a long sleek appearance. This massive ship will be docked at Sir John Roberson’s Quay where you will have the opportunity to climb onboard and discover the history and excitement of her many treacherous voyages.
The Mayo Association Dublin, Admiral Brown Society and Aaddergoole Titanic Society are pleased to co-host a public celebration onboard the visiting Irish Navy Vessel, LE Niamh.
